Professor Alexandrov’s main research interest is theoretical industrial organization. One of his recent papers examines the trade-offs that firms face when deciding how flexible that their products should be, and what the competitive strategy effects are of these decisions. Another examines horizontally differentiated intermediaries, competing both for consumers and suppliers in a two-sided market setting.
Alexandrov’s current research concentrates on access charges in networks and several questions about the restaurant industry, such as when reservations should be offered, and why the take-out price is the same as the dine-in price.
