About the Competition

Who is eligible to participate?

Current undergraduates from all undergraduate institutions are eligible to participate.

What is the Registration Deadline?

October 10, 2011

How are teams chosen?

Upon arrival, we will share with you a copy of the competition case, background information and your teammates’ names. Teams will be formed in a way that creates diversity within each group and uniformity across all participating teams.

Criteria we will consider includes:

• Amount and type of summer work and internship experience
• Undergraduate coursework and classes taken

What is the format of the Competition?

Once at Simon, participants will meet their teammates on Friday afternoon and will have until noon on Saturday to review the case, develop recommendations and create a presentation. The power point presentations will take place on Saturday afternoon with an awards dinner scheduled for Saturday evening.

How are teams judged?

A panel of judges will evaluate each team based on:

• Originality of the proposed solution
• Depth and insightfulness of analysis
• Relevance of the presentation
• Responses during the Question/Answer session
• Completion of the presentation within a specified time limit

Competition rules allow textbooks, notes, and use of Internet for research purposes; however, discussion of the case with outside sources, faculty, or advisors is not permitted.

What are the costs to participate?

There is a $40 non-refundable application fee to participate. Simon School will cover meals for Friday evening and Saturday. For participants outside the Rochester area, Simon will cover the cost of hotel accommodations for Friday and Saturday nights. Please indicate your accommodation requirements on the application form and Simon will handle your hotel reservation. The participant is responsible for transportation costs associated with traveling to campus.
