Through readings, workshops, guest lectures and extracurricular activities such as attending sporting and cultural events, dining or theater, and an early introduction to the various student clubs, students will have the opportunity to learn more about the Rochester community and about U.S. culture. ELUSC participants of all programs will compare and contrast U.S. culture with other cultures - and will gain valuable insights into the ways in which U.S. cultural values help to determine behaviors and practices in business, academic and social settings here. The program will also provide numerous opportunities for you to share insights from your own background and perspective and to practice and refine your ability to communicate effectively within a multicultural learning community.
"The ELUSC program was extremely valuable for me, not only in terms of strengthening the English skills that are crucial in the current globalized world, but it also provided the adequate time to adjust to a new culture. The program offered an opportunity to make friends and to take care of all the non-academic aspects that are so needed. Participating in ELUSC gave me an early start not only in academics, but also with my job search. I would highly recommend it to every foreign student."
