Simon Leadership Fellowship

Simon Leadership Fellowships are offered to full-time MBA candidates who exhibit outstanding academic and professional credentials, and who have an interest in making a significant impact in the world around them. Simon Fellows are highly dedicated individuals active in the pursuit of economic business knowledge as well as the development of critical leadership skills.

Simon Leadership Fellows are characterized by five core values:

Leadership -Simon Fellows dynamically pursue leadership roles in service of the advancement of the Simon School and the Rochester community. Simon Fellows are stewards and act honorably and proudly, upholding the traditions and ideals of the Simon School in all situations.

Philanthropy- Each Fellow is individually tasked with engaging directly in the civic life of his or her community, helping to create opportunity for others through both philanthropy and corporal works of mercy.

Diversity- Fellows are charged with furthering diversity and aiding in the appreciation of the importance of the moral and spiritual dimension of life for all peoples and cultures.

Knowledge- Fellows are passionate about advancing their expertise in global economic issues, pursing the purest form of economics-based learning all towards the ultimate realization of their noble purpose.

Meliora- Fellows are tightly woven into the fabric of the Simon experience and must act as catalysts for the leadership pursuits of all their Fellows and bridge-builders between past, present and future Fellows.

Selection as a Fellow provides the following benefits:

  • Full tuition support for two years of study
  • Stipend support for partial living expenses
  • Alumni networking and involvement in special programming
  • Roundtable meetings with senior staff and administration
  • Access to key on-campus and off-campus events and speakers

Selection as a Fellow carries the following expectations:

  • Maintaining a Simon GPA of 3.0 or higher throughout the MBA program
  • Involvement in key Admissions events and active participation in the Simon Ambassadors program
  • Blog outreach for the Simon Admissions office
  • Participation in Executive Advisory Committee meetings at least once annually
  • Holding at least one significant leadership role during each of the two years of the program

Selection Criteria

Fellows are identified and awarded through on-campus interviews and a team case competition (through invitation by the Admissions Committee). Applicants seeking consideration for participation in Scholarship Weekend must complete Simon’s online application for admission by the date listed below and indicate they wish to be considered for merit-based scholarship.

2012 Scholarship Weekend events:

February 3-5, 2012 (must apply on or before the January 5th application deadline)
March 30-April 1, 2012 (must apply on or before the March 15th application deadline)
