Concentration in General Management

This program is designed for individuals with quantitative or technical backgrounds (e.g., computer science, engineering, optics) whose careers would be enhanced by learning the foundations of successful management.

Degree Requirements (12 courses/40 credits)

There are nine core required classes that cover the principles of finance, accounting, marketing, operations, information systems, managerial economics, and data-driven managerial decision making. The three remaining classes are electives that students can choose according to their interests. A student pursuing the MSBA General Management on a full-time basis begins study in September and completes the degree in nine months. Part-time study is available with enrollment throughout the year.

The core curriculum requires:

  • ACC 401 - Corporate Financial Accounting (plus a 1 credit lab)
  • CIS 401 - Information Systems for Management (plus a 1 credit lab)
  • FIN 402 - Capital Budgeting and Corporate Objectives
  • GBA 411 - Framing & Analyzing Business Problems 1 (plus a 1 credit lab)
  • GBA 412 - Framing & Analyzing Business Problems 2
  • MGC 401-3 Communicating Business Decisions (Modules I, II, and III)
  • MKT 402 - Marketing Management
  • OMG 402 - Operations Management
  • STR 401 - Managerial Economics (plus a 1 credit lab)
  • STR 403 - The Economic Theory of Organizations

In addition, three elective courses complete the MS degree.
