Parking and Transportation

Shuttles and Buses

  • Campus Shuttles – Free for students; Simon Students typically take the Red Line (Park/Monroe/University/South Ave), Blue Line (Whipple Park, Towne House, UPK, Goler), and Gold Line (19th Ward/Riverview)
  • Regional Transit Service (City Bus) – small fee

Parking Services

Parking for motor vehicles on the River Campus is by permit only. The fees vary from $5 for daily permits to more than $300 per year for lots at the perimeter of the River Campus. All of the lots in the vicinity of the River Campus, South Campus, and the Medical Center are serviced by free shuttle buses. Graduate students who attend evening classes only may obtain a permit for more central lots on the River Campus for a reduced fee. Permits for peripheral lots are valid in core parking areas of River Campus after 4:00 p.m.

Zipcar Program

ZIPCAR is available here at the University of Rochester River Campus. This is another great program for those who qualify to use one of the vehicles we have on site to get out and about in the Rochester area. To qualify, your student status must be confirmed, and you must be at least 18 years of age and have three years of driving experience with minimal or no points on your license. Low hourly and daily rates include gas and insurance coverage. To find out more and apply for the UR student discount membership rate of $25, go to www.zipcar.com/universities/university-of-rochester.

NOTE: For this program, you will need a valid credit card and email address. The billing address for your credit card is where your ZIPCAR card will be sent.

Rideshare Services

Uber and Lyft are both available in Rochester. These ridesharing apps allow you to request one-time shared rides that are typically available within minutes, day or night.

Pace Bike Share Program

The Department of Transportation and Parking Management partnered with the city of Rochester and other local organizations to launch Pace, a bike share program. Owned, operated, and maintained by Zagster, a national provider, the program has 46 stations around the Rochester area and 340 bikes. Airport Taxi & Transportation

Airport Taxi & Transportaion service is a local service that has been providing service to our students for many years and serves the neighboring towns of Henrietta, Brighton, Pittsford, Greece, Gates, Webster, and more. Reservations can be made by calling (585) 369-6667 or on their website, www.rochesterairporttransportation.com.
