Planning for Our Enrolling MS Class

We have been planning and responding to the impact of COVID-19 within our business school community as it has evolved into a worldwide issue and remain committed to sharing the most up-to-date information we have so we can continue to support you as you prepare for your future. Here are the current plans we have in place for you to begin your studies at Simon:

August start

We eliminated our Pre-Fall orientation and academic coursework and have shifted our entering date to August 2020 to allow each entering student more time to arrive in Rochester. This additional time also ensures that more students can enjoy a face to face learning experience in a healthy and stable environment. Here are a few details:

  • The Fall A mini semester will begin on August 26 and on-campus orientation will being on August 17.
  • We will rearrange each MS program of study to maintain an option for Curricular Practical Training (paid internship in the United States) and Optional Practical Training (up to three years' work experience in the United States following your STEM-designated MS program).
  • We will continue to offer both the internship track and non-internship track options.
  • International students who have already submitted I-20 documents will have their materials automatically updated to reflect an August entry (you do not need to send new materials).

January start

Students who are unable to travel to Rochester in August will be able to postpone the start of their program and begin studies on campus in January 2021. Study plans are still being finalized, but here are some important highlights of this opportunity:

  • We will continue to offer both the internship track and non-internship track options.

  • Non-internship track students would take classes from January–August and graduate in August 2021.

  • Internship track students would take a break for a fall internship and then take their remaining one or two classes in the second spring semester, graduating in June 2022.

  • We will rearrange each MS program of study to maintain an option for Curricular Practical Training (paid internship in the United States) and Optional Practical Training (up to three years’ work experience in the United States following your STEM-designated MS program).

To reiterate, the opportunity to begin in January is only open to those who cannot arrive in Rochester for the August start.

Students are the focus and heart of everything we do here at Simon Business School, and we believe these plans will help us to meet our educational mission while alleviating some uncertainty during this challenging time. Our "Simon Strong" culture and community is an important element of the business school experience and one that we look forward to including you in as we move forward to your enrollment.

Please accept our best wishes for health and safety for you and your loved ones, and as always, contact us if you have specific questions about the enrollment process.
