Simon Business School

Simon MS Ambassador Program

Starting graduate school can be both exciting and overwhelming, especially if you are studying in the United States for the first time. Our Simon MS Ambassador Program has been created to help all students feel welcome when they arrive in Rochester as well as to help smooth the transition to graduate school and US culture (for those new to the United States). Incoming MS students will be assigned an ambassador before arrival and will interact with them through emails, texts, social media, small-group meetings, and other planned events. Ambassadors will provide extra care and support to our new students while also helping them acclimate to Simon Business School by providing valuable information about their program, the campus, and the Rochester community.

Program Mission:

The MS Ambassador Program at Simon Business School exists to support incoming students with a smooth transition to US culture and graduate school. Ambassadors are professional Simon Business School staff members assigned to a group of approximately 20 new students and will help students with cultural and academic adjustment from pre-arrival through pre-fall.

What to expect:

  • You will connect to the Simon community from wherever you are currently living. Your ambassadors will send an email in summer to introduce themselves, remind you of important dates, and be ready to answer your questions regarding US culture, life in Rochester, and academic resources at Simon.
  • You will meet your ambassador at Simon. When orientation begins, you will be able to meet your ambassador. This is the best time for you to ask questions or ask for help. This will also be a time to get familiar with the buildings and resources at Simon as your ambassador shows you around.
  • You will be prepared for new student orientation. Your ambassador will highlight the orientation sections that address your concerns and answer your questions.
  • You will have a go-to person at Simon. Your ambassador is your go-to person at Simon. From summer to the end of Pre-Fall, they will answer your questions, address your concerns, and help you navigate resources via email and in person.

Formal communication will end after you finish your pre-fall, but we hope you will have a continued friendship and resource at Simon! If you have any questions about the MS Ambassador Program, please contact Karen Platt at Karen.Platt@Simon.Rochester.edu.
