Release Date:

ROCHESTER, N.Y.—The Simon Business School at the University of Rochester will hold its annual Simon Fall Ball on Saturday, October 12 from 8:30 pm – Midnight at ArtisanWorks. Join Simon Volunteers at this black-tie affair as they celebrate with a live DJ, dance floor, open bar, food, auctions, ArtisanWorks-themed games and contests and so much more. All proceeds will go towards the school’s Secret Santa and P.I.E.C.E.S. programs.

“The Simon Fall Ball has always been a great opportunity for us students to enjoy a night out that also enables us to give back to the surrounding community,” says Greg Arnold, a student at Simon who’s on the Simon Volunteers board. His co-board member, Jharna Narang adds, “I know we all enjoy spending this time together and working towards a common goal that we can really get behind. It’s a chance for us to show our Simon pride, get dressed up, and do something that makes a positive change for those around us.”

Nathan Kadar, Director of Student Life in Simon’s Office of Student Engagement, said that the Simon Gala is “all for a great cause, while enabling attendees to enjoy a fun time with fellow students, staff, alumni, and community members.  In business school, you often get caught up in the grind, and community involvement helps to keep us humble and grounded.”

Proceeds raised from ticket sales and the silent/live auction at Fall Ball will go directly towards purchasing gifts for local children and families through the Secret Santa initiative, which connects the Simon community to benefit the Greater Rochester Area.  For more than 20 years, the Secret Santa initiative has provided winter necessities and gifts for over 100 children and families during the holiday season. In partnership with organizations such as Center for Youth, Rochester Childfirst Network, Pathways to Peace, Catholic Family Center and more, we are able to leave a lasting and sustainable impact.

Part of the auction proceeds will also go to P.I.E.C.E.S., a program run by Simon Business School students, which serves to close the gap of education inequity within the underserved communities of Rochester. Simon student volunteers share their expertise in growth mindsets, finance, and entrepreneurship with middle-school classrooms by utilizing their education and providing positive examples and mentorship.

The event is open to all Simon students, faculty, staff, and alumni. Tickets for the event are on sale now at $45 each or $80 for two.
