Ken Syme ran Xerox’s indirect purchasing department in the United States before enrolling in the Executive MBA Program at the Simon Business School. He had reached a point in his career where, in order to advance in the global arena, he knew he needed more expertise. “I enrolled in the program because I wanted to find out what I didn’t know,” Syme says, “What I discovered was that in every single course I took, I could immediately apply something I learned to my work at Xerox.”
Syme began his career with Xerox Europe Ltd., a Xerox subsidiary based in Britian, in 1977. Now, in the United States, he oversees a global purchasing division for the corporate giant, supervising over 350 professionals scattered around the world. His team is responsible for purchases of nearly $7 billion a year.
In 2004, the Upstate New York Regional Minority Purchasing Council named Syme as Corporate Executive of the Year.
