Information and Guidelines

Competition Information:

  • The scholarship competition consists of two consecutive rounds of play.
    • In the first game participants play against the computer. This game runs for one week and each participant needs to meet two to three scheduled business decision deadlines during this week. Each decision cycle should take one to three hours to complete. All participants who complete this first game are moved to the next game regardless of score.
    • In the second game participants play against fellow competitors. This game runs for four weeks, and each participant will make one or two decisions per week (for a total of six decisions). Each decision cycle should take six to eight hours to complete. Decision deadlines in this game are strictly enforced and participants should plan their time accordingly.
  • At the end of Strategic Management, the individual cumulative balanced score will be tabulated. The top ten participants (from Professional MBA and Executive MBA - 20 participants in total) will be invited to the final round of the competition.
  • In the Final Round, Report to the Board, participants give presentations on their performance in the overall competition to a panel of faculty, alumni and admissions staff on campus at the University of Rochester-Simon Business School.
  • The committee will review the presentations and announce the scholarship recipients the same day.
