Mara Heppard ’25S (MS)
Masters of Marketing Analytics
President, Master’s Advisory Council 2025
University of Rochester 2024
Hello! My name is Mara Heppard. I was inspired to pursue my MS in Marketing Analytics after graduating with degrees in Business and Digital Media from the University of Rochester. I was drawn to Simon’s curriculum for its ROI, faculty, top-ranking, alumni, and presence at the University of Rochester. As a creative problem solver, I love using facts to figure out how to improve a system. With data, you just uncover these facts. After Simon, I plan to pursue a career in market research, where I hope to contribute to teams where I can take charge in uncovering and delivering these insights. I’m fascinated by all aspects of consumer behavior, especially how branding, marketing, and PR can unknowingly influence our decisions.
Can you share a class, project, or experience that was especially meaningful during your time at Simon?
I am grateful for my experience at Simon as it has been one of growth, learning, and enjoyment. It has been extremely meaningful for me to be able to meet new people, learn from their industry experience, but also be able to grow and learn alongside them as Business students. I am glad that the people I have met at Simon are now some of my close friends! I have enjoyed making professional and personal connections with the Simon staff and am grateful to be a part of the Simon community.
What are you most looking forward to after graduation?
I am looking to a career where I can be passionate about supporting well-being for consumers. As an alumni, I look forward to staying connected with Simon and the Rochester community.
What are some of your favorite things about living in Rochester?
I enjoy the community and variety of things to do in Rochester. Whether that’s exploring the University libraries, staying on campus for a sports game (athletics shoutout), or grabbing dinner with friends. As a Graduate student, I enjoyed trying the different restaurants in Rochester and/or exploring the greater upstate New York area. However, I have also enjoyed being a part of the Simon community and attending events sponsored by the school.
What did you gain from serving as MAC president, and how did that leadership experience shape your time at Simon?
As MAC President, I’m proud to lead a team of 15 MS peers dedicated to supporting the needs of the Simon MS Class of 2025. The Master’s Advisory Council (MAC) serves as the voice of MS students—both within Simon and the broader University of Rochester community. Our role is to advocate on behalf of Simon MS students, raise concerns when needed, and act as a direct link between the MS student body and Simon leadership. I enjoy promoting events, celebrating milestones, giving students the recognition they deserve, and fostering a stronger sense of community along the way. Shoutout to my team!
