Ellie Prager paper wins this year’s Best CRESSE Young Researcher Paper award

Simon Faculty Co-Author Wins CRESSE Best Young Researcher Paper Award
At the 2025 CRESSE Conference, the Scientific Committee recognized the best papers by young researchers in the field of competition and regulation. For the fifth consecutive year, CRESSE and the Computer and Communications Industry Association (CCIA) awarded three standout papers.
Among the winners, “Collusion through Common Leadership”, co-authored by Jessica Jeffers (HEC Paris), Alejandro Herrera-Caicedo (Wisconsin), and Assistant Professor Ellie Prager (Simon Business School), received one of the two Best Paper Awards for Young Researchers. This paper examines how shared executives or board members between firms can increase the likelihood of collusion — a timely topic in antitrust policy and corporate governance.
Other awardees included Michelangelo Rossi (HEC Paris) for “Is Competition Only One Click Away? The Digital Markets Act Impact on Google Maps” and Robin Mamrak (Charles River Associates) for “Patents, Antitrust, and Innovation: Evidence from the Xerox Case”.
Founded in 2005 by Prof. Yannis Katsoulacos, CRESSE is a network of academics and professionals working in competition policy, regulation, and law. Its mission includes hosting annual conferences, summer schools, lawyers’ courses, and executive programs to advance research, training, and public debate in competition and regulatory policy.
This recognition highlights the impactful research being produced by early-career economists, including those from Simon, and underscores the school’s commitment to contributing to global conversations on competition and regulation.
