Sunada research published in Management Science
Takeaki Sunada, assistant professor at University of Rochester Simon Business School, recently had his research published in Management Science.
His paper, “Why Do Product Prices Affect Review Ratings? Evidence from a Japanese Online Travel Agency,” examines how the prices consumers pay influence the ratings they give products and services. Using hotel reviews from an online booking platform, Sunada finds that prices can shape consumers’ expectations about quality and, in turn, affect their ratings.
The research reflects Sunada’s broader interest in applying industrial organization tools to understand frictions, inefficiencies, and distortions in markets, including platform pricing, review systems, and product sampling.
