Simon Business School Announces Graduate Certificate Programs in Health Care Management
April 15, 2025
Health care-focused business and management curriculum sets professionals apart.
Rochester, NY – As the health care industry continues to rapidly evolve, health care professionals are seeking flexible and efficient ways to develop their business and management skills. Simon Business School at the University of Rochester is offering a focused pathway to gain expertise in leadership, finance, strategy and marketing, or analytics and artificial intelligence with its Graduate Certificates in Health Care Management.
Each of the four certificate programs include three graduate-level 7-week courses thoughtfully curated from Simon’s Master of Science in Medical Management (MMM) program. The programs are ideal for both clinical and non-clinical health care professionals across a wide range of job titles and responsibilities. Credits earned in up to two certificates may be applied toward completion of the 18-month part-time MMM degree program, providing professionals the opportunity to stack credentials along their educational journey. Certificate participants attend class, collaborate on projects, and network with MMM students. Credits earned may also be applied toward Simon’s Professional MBA or Executive MBA programs.
"Today’s health care leaders need both clinical and business acumen to thrive," said Samuel Ogie, Clinical Assistant Professor of Health Sciences Management and Faculty Director of the Medical Management Program at Simon Business School. "Our new graduate certificate programs are designed to equip participants with the practical skills they need to manage complex health care environments while also giving them the flexibility to advance their education without stepping away from their careers."
Simon has extensive experience in the business of health care. Simon senior faculty have been teaching graduate-level health care management courses for more than 20 years, building from a strong foundation of industry expertise and collaboration with the University of Rochester Medical Center. Simon Medical Management alumni have applied their enhanced managerial knowledge and achieved career success in leadership positions across health care organizations post-graduation.
The following graduate certificate programs begin in August:
• Graduate Certificate in Health Care Finance
• Graduate Certificate in Health Care Leadership
• Graduate Certificate in Health Care Strategy and Marketing
The first-round application deadline for fall certificates is May 15. The Graduate Certificate in Health Care Analytics and Artificial Intelligence will start in March 2026.
