Scheduled for completion in May of 2025, the transformative space made possible by alumnus Evans Lam will unlock limitless possibilities for undergraduate business scholars.
The University of Rochester and Simon Business School recently announced a significant step forward in the creation of the Lam e.Hub of Undergraduate Business Engagement at the University of Rochester. A rendering unveiled by the Rochester-based firm IN/EX Architecture P.C., showcases a groundbreaking investment in undergraduate business education and translates the vision of Simon and University of Rochester alumnus and University of Rochester Board of Trustees member Evans Lam ’83, ’84S (MBA).
Dean Sevin Yeltekin said the e.Hub will not only strengthen Simon Business School but also enhance the broader University community. She is pleased with the progress and credits Evans Lam for making this innovative concept possible.
“I am grateful to Evans Lam for his generosity and unwavering commitment to advancing the mission of Simon Business School and the University of Rochester," said Yeltekin. “His gift will allow us to not only elevate our physical infrastructure but also enrich the academic experience for our students, empowering them to become future leaders in the business world.”
The Lam e.Hub of Undergraduate Business Engagement, made possible by Lam’s generous $3.5 million commitment, is set to be completed in Spring 2025. Dean Yeltekin went on to say that the Lam e.Hub will provide undergraduate business students with unparalleled access to resources, which will foster innovation, collaboration, and academic excellence.
“Evans Lam's visionary contribution epitomizes the spirit of philanthropy and dedication to excellence that defines our community," remarked Yeltekin. "His generosity extends beyond bricks and mortar, providing invaluable assets that will enhance our students' educational journey, nurturing their growth as principled leaders poised to make a meaningful impact in the global business landscape."
Sarah C. Mangelsdorf, president and G. Robert Witmer, Jr. University Professor at the University of Rochester said that Evans Lam’s role in the evolution of the University and the advancement of our mission cannot be overstated.
“Evans has propelled our libraries into the 21st century, helped scores of students reach their potential, and met the financial needs of many talented and diverse students from around the world while personally mentoring them,” said Mangelsdorf. “Evans believes in the University, our mission, and our values.”
Founded and certified as a woman-owned business (WBE) in New York State in 2018, IN/EX Architecture P.C. promotes values shared with the University of Rochester and Simon Business School—including a spirit of innovation and community engagement as well as a focus on social and environmental consciousness.
