Simon Technology Services (STS) has the following minimum requirements for the computer that you plan to use for your Program.

Your laptop should be configured prior to fall orientation.  You may schedule an appointment with STS to have your laptop configured.  If you are comfortable with the technology, you are welcome to configure your computer yourself; however, STS is available to provide any assistance needed.

  • Microsoft Project
    • To have Microsoft Project installed please stop in to the Simon Technology Services help desk in Gleason 335.
    • Only students with an approved exception to attend class virtually can request a virtual appointment to have MS Project installed for you via Zoom. Please email support@simon.rochester.edu to do so.
    • MAC USERS: Microsoft Project will not work for Mac. You will need Parallels Desktop with Windows in order to use MS Project. Parallels Desktop has a charge associated with it ($49.95), and can be purchased at the URTech store website.
    • Simon IT can activate your Windows install and you can download Office free of charge ( ) once you have purchased Parallels Desktop. Our help desk is in Gleason 335. Please note: if you are not on campus Simon IT cannot provide you with a Windows install and you will be responsible for purchasing and installing your own Windows operating system.
