Graduating student spotlight: Rohan Rathore ’23S (MSF)

April 20, 2023 | By Bret Ellington

In addition to recently graduating with a MS in Finance, Rohan Rathore ’23S (MSF) also served as president of the MS Advisory Council. In this Q&A, he shares some of his favorite Simon experiences and has some advice for future Simon students.

What are your best memories from the MSF program?

My best memory in the MSF program would be my experience being part of Simon Vision Consulting. I was able to leverage my past academic and work experiences along with my analytical skillset, to solve complex business problems. I got the opportunity to collaborate with my colleagues and capitalize on the strengths derived from our diverse education, professional, and cultural backgrounds, which helped me develop into a well-rounded business graduate.

What are your plans after graduation?

After graduation, I have the opportunity to intern at a boutique investment bank in New York City.

Where do you see yourself five years from now?

In the next five years, I see myself gaining in-depth knowledge of the finance industry while also continuing to deepen and diversify my skill set, so that I can make even more of an impact in my professional career.

Any advice for future Simon students?

Finding a job as an international student can be challenging, try being proactive, research well and above all stay positive, and spend your time and other resources wisely while pursuing your master's degree. Try to soak up as much knowledge as possible from your peers, faculty, and the different cultures around you.

Additionally, the quote, “When everything seems to be going against you, remember that the airplane takes off against the wind, not with it," always helps me stay motivated at the face of adversity.

Share a cool fact about yourself.

Coming to the United States to attend Simon Business School was the first time I have traveled outside of India.
